On June 10, the Phase I unit of XIAMEN HUAXIA INTERNATIONAL POWER DEVELOPMENT CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as “Huaxia Power”), a key provincial and municipal project, began ignition and commissioning for its capacity replacement project (Unit #5). The unit is anticipated to be linked to the grid and start producing power by the end of June. This project marks the first project in Fujian Province to replace coal power capacity since the introduction of the national "dual carbon" strategy. The project mainly involves building a new 660 MW ultra-supercritical, double-reheat coal-fired power generation unit to replace the original two 300 MW units (which will be kept as emergency backups). This upgrade will play a key role in driving the transformation of the energy structure and promoting green development. When the project is fully operational, it will more effectively address the electricity demands of the Xiamen region and improve the reliability, safety, and stability of the primary power grid in both Xiamen and the broader Fujian Province.
